An answerphone is available outside booking hours for general queries and cancellations only. Please note that it cannot be used for making journey bookings.

Please try to give as much notice as possible but we would like at least 24 hours notice of your need to travel. In an emergency, however, every effort will be made to arrange transport at short notice.

It may not always be possible to arrange a lift as the Car Scheme drivers are all volunteers and cannot be expected to turn out on every occasion, although they will do their best.

FARES AND PAYMENT

Passengers living in Budleigh Salterton are charged a set fare of £1 for a single journey and £2 for a return journey within Budleigh Salterton. Passengers travelling between East Budleigh and Budleigh Salterton will be charged £1.20 per person for a single journey.

For all other journeys passengers are charged a mileage rate of 40p per passenger per mile.

In general, passengers are only charged for the miles they are actually carried, but there is a minimum charge of £1.

Payment is made direct to the driver, who gives a receipt.

Voluntary drivers, however, are not often able to wait at the destination for a long period, so passengers may be asked to pay an extra charge of £2.00 if the waiting time is 2 hours or more.

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS

The Co-ordinator can advise on the above and on other special arrangements which may need to be negotiated in individual cases - e.g. when the nearest available driver lives at some distance from the passenger's home.
